PROXY

archival Inkjet prints and climbing grips, 2014

‘…A tongue-in-cheek take on the dexterity and effort needed to navigate a bureaucratic system in a time of crisis.’ Dan Rule

Proxy merges indoor rock-climbing holds, an image depicting a personal tragedy and a suite of disaster response forms. Juxtaposing a symbolic, if not perverse, ‘hanging on’ with a deep ennui, Proxy parodies clichés such as ‘getting a grip’ in direct relation to complex, physical and emotional landscapes.
